Tesla cuts prices on Model Y, Model 3 as price drops continue in 2023

Jan 26, 2024

It just got cheaper to buy a Tesla once again.

The electric car manufacturer cut prices on some of its models, the sixth time the company has done so this year, ahead of the release of its first quarter results for 2023.

It's the second time this month Tesla has cut prices, after doing so on some of its more expensive models less than two weeks ago.

The company started the year by cutting prices in the U.S. by as much as 20%, allowing some vehicles to qualify for a federal electric vehicle tax credit.

Tesla is expected to release its quarter one results Wednesday, as the company said earlier this month it delivered a record number of vehicles in the first quarter, as price cuts stoked demand.

The price drops were made to Tesla's more affordable vehicles, including the Model 3, which was cut by $2,000. Earlier this month, prices on the Model 3 dropped by $1,000.

Model Y vehicles also had prices cut, with the Model Y Long Range and Model Y Performance price each dropping by $3,000. Those models also had prices drop earlier this month.

Here are the current prices for Tesla vehicles:
