South Bend Cubs host Lansing Lugnuts this week at Four Winds Field
The South Bend Cubs return home after a two-week road trip to host the Lansing Lugnuts beginning Tuesday night in High A Minor League baseball at Four Winds Field.
The Cubs, who have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games, hope to turn things around on their home turf. The defending Midwest League champion South Bend Cubs (26-25) are in the third place, three games back, in the West Division while Lansing (23-28) is in fifth place in the East Division, 12 games back.
All homestand games take place at Four Winds Field, 501 W. South Street, South Bend. Tickets can be purchased online at SouthBendCubs.com or by calling the Box Office at 574-235-9988. The box office is open during the week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and one weekend game days until the seventh inning.
Tuesday's game (7:05 p.m.) is Tail Waggin and Triple Play Tuesday. Fans can bring their dog to the ballpark and for $13, can purchase a game ticket, hot dog and 24-ounce soda pop. Those tickets must be purchased 24 hours in advance.
Wednesday (7:05) is Teacher Appreciation Night. The Cubs will recognize local teachers and administrators with two free tickets to the game and two food vouchers. Teachers can pick up their complimentary tickes by showing their school I.D. at the box office. The first 250 tickets claimed with include a two-hour all-you-can-eat buffet on the United Federal Credit Union Rooftop.
On Thirsty Thursday (7:05 p.m.), fans can enjoy $2 fountain drinks and 16-ounce domestic beer.
Friday (7:05) will include post-game fireworks and Saturday (4:05) is Spin to Win Saturday. Nine contestants get a chance to spin a wheel for prizes.
Sunday (2:05 p.m.) is Adult Replica Jersey Giveaway. The first 1,000 fans 18-and-older will receive a South Bend Cubs replica road jersey. There will Father's Recognition and Sunday Funday includes pre-game autograph season and a chance to play catch on the field.
Second baseman James Triantos, who was activated from the injured list on May 9, has now played in 20 games, has 24 hits, including four doubles and two home runs for a team-leading .320 batting average and 13 RBI.
Third baseman Fabian Pertuz has played in team-leadinig 43 games, has 35 hits, including six doubles and four home runs for 21 RBI. Center fielder Kevin Alcantara leads the team with 23 RBI on 41 hira, including 11 doubles and three RBI.
Richard Gallardo has a 4-3 record with a 3.74 ERA and 53 strikeouts in 55 1/3 inning pitched.
